Warehouse Risks: Accidents Waiting To Happen

Spotting risks before anything happens is vital to keeping warehouses safe.

Potential accidents can be avoided, if action is taken, and will prevent potential accidents in the future, but do you know how to spot these risks?

When inspecting racking we suggest you follow SEMA’s simple ‘traffic light’ code of practise, which helps identify damage levels and allows you to prioritise the risk and appropriate action needed.

Risk Levels:

Green - minor damage within SEMA allowable limits. At next annual check reassess.

Amber – damage identified and beyond allowable limits, take action as soon as possible/repair.

Red – Severe damage, take immediate action and offload locations affected.

Benefits of Being Proactive:

Spotting potential risks helps avoid the business downtime needed to restart operations.

Active checking daily, weekly and annually removes any future potential risks.

Where Rack Collapse Prevention is installed, when a warehouse incident takes place, including the complete destruction and loss of rack-leg floor contact, personnel remain safe, and stock remains secure.
